Auto-Ordnance expands its custom 1911 selection with a new commemorative pistol — the Squadron. Honoring those that bravely fought in World War II, the Squadron boasts custom graphics that harken back to the fighter aircraft of WWII.

The pistol’s muzzle offers a “shark mouth” nose art commonly seen on American fighter planes back in the day. The Army Air Corps insignia is features on both sides of the gun as well as a rivet pattern engraving over the gun. Finished in a worn black and gray Cerakote for an antique look, Auto Ordnance delivers a 1911 reminiscent of the era.

“The overall appearance makes for a pistol that looks like a WWII fighter plane getting ready to race into the skies hunting bandits!” Auto Ordnance said in a news release. “Auto-Ordnance is proud to offer this latest custom 1911 in honor of the pilots who flew in defense of our nation during WWII. May their bravery and sacrifice always be remembered!”

Chambered in .45 ACP, the 1911 provides checkered wood grips with the U.S. logo. A seven-round magazine accompanies the pistol, priced at $1,106.
