Ruger expands its caliber offerings for the AR-556 Multi-Purpose Rifle, now chambering it in .450 Bushmaster. Designed for hunting Midwestern whitetail deer and larger pigs, Ruger said the .450 Bushmaster chambering is also ideal for target shooting at heavy steel.

The MPR rifle series is equipped with a Ruger muzzle brake, Elite 452 two-stage trigger, free-float handguard with Magpul M-LOK attachment slots in addition to sporting Magpul furniture like the MOE grip and SL stock.

Utilizing an 18-5/8-inch cold hammer-forged barrel with 11/16-24-inch radial port muzzle brake, the MPR is designed to soften recoil on the .450 Bushmaster setup. Ruger said the rifle has been engineered to withstand the strength and power packing punch of the cartridge.

“This new rifle combines innovative engineering, modern materials and precision CNC-machining to make a superior rugged, reliable, semi-auto rifle chambered for the .450 Bushmaster cartridge,” Ruger said in a news release.

The AR-556 MPR chambered in .450 Bushmaster ships with a 5-round metal box magazine and is currently shipping to dealers, distributors and consumers. The rifle is priced at $1,099.
