Glock’s newest Gen 5 pistol, the G45, was released on an eager market late last month but how does it shoot? To answer that question, competition shooter Taran Butler takes a bone stock Glock 45 out for a test drive with a few different Fiocchi 9mm loads and just absolutely smokes the targets.
The new model, like the rest of the Gen 5 line, uses Glock’s Marksman Barrel, improved trigger, ambi controls, a modular backstrap system and flared magwell while adding front cocking serrations to the slide. It is based on the crossover G19X concept, which blends the full-size frame of the G17 with the smaller slide assembly of the G19 to create a more commander-sized handgun.
