Wisconsin teen still missing four days after parents found dead (VIDEO)

A nationwide search for a missing Wisconsin teen continues four days after police discovered her parents shot to death inside the family’s home.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told reporters Wednesday James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 46, died from gunshot wounds around 1 a.m. Monday, shortly after dispatchers received a 911 call from their residence, about 80 miles northeast of Minneapolis. Their 13-year-old daughter, Jayme, was nowhere to be found, according to investigators.

“We believe Jayme was in the home at the time of the homicides and we believe she is in danger,” he said.

Some 400 tips have since poured into the county about the girl’s whereabouts, with investigators as far away as Miami following up on a reported sighting of Jayme with two bearded, well-dressed men in a black Ford Explorer. Fitzgerald said the FBI investigated the tip and deemed it “not credible.”

“In Barron County, we know that these things just don’t happen here,” Fitzgerald said. “What we do know about these investigations is that thankfully they are rare, but they do require a more robust surge of law enforcement resources.”

Police sent out a nationwide Amber Alert for Jayme, describing the teen as weighing 100 pounds, standing five feet tall with strawberry blond hair. Fitzgerald demanded reporters stop “hounding” the local school district for more information about the girl and allow investigators to “do their job.” He said investigators still don’t know if the attack was random or targeted.

“I just want to bring Jayme home,” he said. “That’s what I want.”
