National Shooting Sports Month: By the numbers

The second annual National Shooting Sports Month, celebrated in August each year, generates a wave of interest across retailers and gun ranges nationwide.
The numbers tell a promising story, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation. President Joseph Bartozzi deemed 2018’s events a qualified “success,” describing it as “the recognized celebration of recreational shooting sports” across the country.
According to the NSSF:
- More than 1,000 events were listed by shooting ranges and firearms retailers;
- More than 75 industry companies and organizations supported National Shooting Sports Month;
- More than 40,000 people entered the Trigger Time Sweepstakes;
- 13,000,000 impressions about National Shooting Sports Month were totaled on NSSF digital and social media channels.
“The shooting sports truly offer something for everyone,” said Steve Sanetti, former NSSF President. “A day at the range gives people an opportunity to tune out distractions, learn a new skill, socialize and share their experiences.”
