Featuring elegant upland game scenes and oil-finished walnut furniture, Winchester’s new Super X4 Upland Field 12 gauge autoloading shotgun is headed to customers.

Teased earlier this year at SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Winchester reps tell Guns.com this week that the new SX4 Upland Field is in stock and ready to ship. Introduced as an expansion of their Super X4 line, which is built around the company’s Active Valve Gas System, the new model is a throwback to the days of highly-finished shotguns of old. As such, it includes a matte nickel-plated receiver with engraved upland bird scenes on both sides.

Note the oversized bolt handle. The gun also has a reversible safety.

The SX4 series also has a drop-out trigger group

To complement the pheasants and grain, the Upland Field uses Grade II/III satin-finished Turkish walnut furniture. Other features include an oversized bolt handle and bolt release button — ideal for use with gloved hands on cold mornings in the field — a hard chrome-plated chamber and bore, and a Truglo fiber-optic front bead. Weight is under 7-pounds, largely because of the aluminum alloy receiver, while the semi-auto shotgun goes 47-inches in overall length when using the longer barrel option.

The gun ships with a trio of Invector-Plus choke tubes (F, M, IC) for a suggested retail of $1,109. Guns.com’s own Kristin Alberts extensively reviewed the SX4 system as a whole in 2017.
