A Christmas shopping list for the huntresses in your life

We like to think that Santa Claus will be especially good to all the hunting-ladies this year. Just in case the jolly old man needs a few pointers, here are some of our top gift picks for huntresses.

Weatherby Camilla Mark V Deluxe

Few rifles are as fine or instantly recognizable as the Weatherby Mark V Deluxe line of rifles.  Now, the family owned Weatherby company has upped their womens-rifle game by adding a Mark V version of their Camilla bolt-action scaled to fit a woman’s traditionally smaller frame. The Mark V Camilla Deluxe is just as attractive as it is capable.  If she prefers synthetic, Weatherby’s SubAlpine camo version of the Camilla Mark V is lighter weight and a fantastic gun for the mobile huntress. Quality doesn’t come cheap in this case, with an MSRP of $2,700.

Alps Outdoorz Monarch Pack

This has been our go-to hunting pack for several years now, and there’s just nothing better on the market. The Monarch pack is designed specifically for women, shaped for the shorter torso of the feminine physique. Though slightly smaller in size, the pack is not short on features. A pull-out meat shelf allows ample room for hauling out those hind quarters from the backcountry. The pack features aluminum stays, a full rain cover, drop-down bow/rifle holder, hydration pack compartment, and all belts and straps are well-placed for women. MSRP is $199 and this one is worth every penny.

Savage AccuFit Rifles

Choose from any of a myriad of new Savage 110 rifle models with the award-winning AccuFit stock system which allows shooters to customize both length of pull and comb height for a rifle that fits like a glove.  There are specialized models for hunters of predators, bear, big game, long range shooters, and more.  An adjustable AccuTrigger is icing on the cake. We spent some time with the 110 Predator and not only does it have well-thought features but also shoots like a dream.

Girls with Guns (GWG) Apparel

It’s refreshing to see many of the bigger camo companies offering sizes and styles for women these days, but few companies design and produce women’s apparel for women, by women. Girls with Guns is one of those few, and also one of the most affordable. Huntresses will gravitate to their Artemis line of camouflage layering options, but GWG offers plenty of workout and fashion apparel for the outdoorsy woman as well.

Stormy Kromer Women’s Caps

This Yooper-based company has been cranking out signature woolen caps since 1903, and they offer multiple styles specifically for women. Our favorite is the Millie Kromer design, which allows space for the ponytail hair-style, while maintaining the fold-down ear flap. This — or any Stormy product — is perfect for the hunting-gal who is at once outdoorsy and old fashioned.

Outdoor Edge Swing Blade (Babe)

The Outdoor Edge SwingBlade, dual cutting-edge knife is a hunter’s—and huntresses’—dream.  Affordable and durable, the SwingBlade morphs from a drop-point knife to a special, blunt-tipped gutting zipper.  Not all ladies dig pink, but those who do will welcome the SwingBabe, the same knife with a hot pink rubberized handle. MSRP is $79.99, but they’re available online for $49.  Use it as a stocking stuffer or a utilitarian holiday present.

Heated Gear

The problem of staying warm during long hunting hours in adverse conditions is not unique to women.  But if you want to win the heart of your huntresses this Christmas, consider giving the gift of heat. For heated outerwear, we like Volt’s heated vest or jacket in Mossy Oak. If cold toes are her primary concern, then check out ThermaCell’s heated insoles. Once you keep those areas warm, it’s much easier to spend more hours in the cold in search of that trophy.

Syren Shotguns

A division of the renowned Caesar Guerini shotgun company, Syren is an offshoot building scatterguns specifically for women. Whether field, sporting, or trap-specific guns, Syren has the bases covered with multiple premium offerings. Though their semi-automatics are pretty sweet, the bread-and-butter of the Syren line are the over-under shotguns. Syren offers not simply pinked or shrunken versions, but rather, guns built for women, by women.

Henry American Beauty

Henry’s tagline of “Who says diamonds are a girl’s best friend?” is just a small part of the reasons we love their American Beauty rifle. Named for the American Beauty rose and built in honor of the late Mrs. Imperato, the story is secondary only to the gorgeous hand-cut engraving and 14-karat gold-plating on this rimfire lever action. Though the MSRP is $965, online retailers list it for as little as $675. This is the gift that keeps on giving each time she looks at — and fires — this functional work of art.
