Rock Island lands the new Armscor VR80 shotgun on U.S. shores (VIDEO)

Rock Island Armory’s new VR80 semi-auto 12 gauge shotgun was a crowd pleaser at SHOT Show in Las Vegas this month and is headed to retailers in 2019.

The Armscor VR80 hails from the Philippines and uses a 5-round detachable box magazine– but can accept nine- or 19-shot mags as well. Using 7075 T6 aluminum receivers, the Thrilla from Manila has a fighting weight of 9-pounds and goes 40-inches overall with its 20-inch contoured Mobi Choke barrel.

To help tame some of the recoil, the gun couples a Bufferbolt system in its action as well as a Buffer THS thumbhole stock and accepts both 2.75- and 3-inch shells.

The company had the gun front and center at Industry Day prior to SHOT Show and had steady lines at their booth all week to see the VR80, which is an updated version of their VR60, which used a lot more polymer.

MSRP is $699 and the gun is already shipping.
