Brace Built Firearms brings new lightweight rifles to AR fans

Brace Built Firearms created a new line of lightweight AR platform rifles chambered in 5.56mm, 6mm and 6.5 Creedmoor, and .308 Winchester. The designs offer hunters and shooters a lightweight means to tackle the outdoors.

The new rifle series pair elements of Modern Outfitters’ Modern Carbine with the know-how of master gunsmith Stephen Barrier, formerly of Surgeon Rifles. They include billet MC6 AR15 and MC7 AR10 as well as the Barrier Tactical rifle and left-folding billet Barrier Tactical chassis.

The MC6 boasts compatibility with 5.56mm rounds while the MC7 AR10 works alongside 6.5mm Creedmoor and .308 Win. Both rifles come decked out in the customer’s choice of color — black, tungsten, OD green or burnt bronze Cerakote for the upper and lower. The MC6 and MC7 also offer a slimline M-LOK handguard with Brace Built’s signature orange highlights.

The Barrier Tactical Rifle features chamberings in 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5mm Creedmoor, and .308 Winchester. Rounding out the series, the Barrier Tactical Chassis coincides with the Barrier action and Remington 700 actions. The Barrier Tactical models sport the same color choices as the MC6 and MC7 with orange highlights on the trigger and controls.

Master gunsmith Barrier constructed the special Barrier action to address common complaints among precisions bolt action shooters, according to the company.

“Barrier created the signature Barrier action with a 3-lug bolt and 60-degree throw to solve three common precision bolt action rifle pain points – the primary extraction issue found in many bolt action rifles, the lack of durability of chassis systems, and the nightmare of assembly/disassembly,” the company said in a news release.

“He combined this action with Bartlein cut-rifled barrels in 18-inches t0 24-inch lengths to create sub 1/2 MOA out of the box performance. He then focused on making the best tactical chassis system he could out of billet that was simple, durable and affordable,” the release continued.

All models are available through Brace Built with prices depending on model. The MC6 starts at $2,449 while the MC7 comes in at $3,449. The Barrier Tactical Chassis is priced at $1,499 and the full Barrier Tactical setup features an MSRP of $4,999.
