Lanny Barnes Shows Off Balancing Act While Shooting (VIDEO)

Please, Please Do Not Try This at home. This was one of the “stunts” I did for the shooting exhibition for the Boy Scouts and this was a practice run beforehand. For over 15 years while I trained for biathlon at the Olympic level, we would stand on the ball to improve balance while our coach would throw a weighted ball to us. Needless to say we developed great balance and the ability to be able to stand on the ball and concentrate on other things. I do this to help improve my shooting, balance and focus. I do not however recommend this as a drill because it is extremely dangerous. There are much safer ways of improving those things and your shooting. Olympic Biathlete and professional 3-Gunner Lanny Barnes, better known under moniker Lanny Oakley, demonstrates some impressive balancing skills while on the range.

Reminding Instagram viewers not to try this at home, Barnes carefully balances on a weighted ball while pinging targets with her rifle. Barnes said she was introduced to the weighted ball during her training for Olympic biathlons and that the idea carried over into shooting.

“I do this to help improve my shooting, balance and focus,” she said on Instagram before cautioning, “I do not however recommend this as a drill because it is extremely dangerous. There are much safer ways of improving those things and your shooting.”
