NRA National Police Shooting Championships Head to Mississippi in Sept.

The National Rifle Association National Police Shooting Championships return to Mississippi Sept. 23-25 to pit law enforcement professionals against each other in a test of shooting skills.

The NRA’s National Police Shooting Championships, founded in 1962, is open to both public and private law enforcement officers in addition to select law enforcement members in the U.S. Armed Forced. The three-day match mandates law enforcement professionals begin the fire-timed match with guns holstered from multiple positions and distances.

Put on by the NRA Law Enforcement Division, the championship does not require an invitation in addition to allowing participants to shoot in as many matches as they wish.

“The NRA’s National Police Shooting Championships is pleased to announce our return to Mississippi this year,” NRA Executive Vice President and CEO Wayne LaPierre said in a news release.

“We believe that competition is a direct extension of training, and this competitive event allows us to further assist the law enforcement professionals who dedicate their lives to ensuring our safety,” LaPierre continued. “We proudly welcome law enforcement officers from across the country and around the world to join us again in Pearl for this challenging tradition.”

The National Police Shooting Championships will kick off at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer’s Training Academy in Pearl, Mississippi Sept. 23-25.
