The Sig Sauer P365 has a 10+1 capacity in a package slightly smaller than Glock’s 6+1 G43 and, unlike the Glock, includes an accessory rail and night sights from the factory. The Indiana State Police adopted them this week as a back-up and off-duty gun (Photo: ISP + Chris Eger/Guns.com)

State troopers in Indiana will soon be carrying Sig Sauer’s svelte P365 sub-compact as their standard back-up gun. The New Hampshire-based gun maker announced Monday that the 1,250-member agency had adopted the innovative 9mm pistol across the state of Indiana.

“The Sig Sauer P365 gives Indiana State Police Troopers primary carry capabilities in a sub-compact configuration,” said Lt. Col. Matt Bilkey, ISP’s assistant chief of staff operations. “Its high level of accuracy, small size, and high round capacity make it a perfect firearm for our officers, both on and off duty, and is a great counterpart to our primary duty firearm, the Sig Sauer P227.”

Sig originally introduced the P365 at SHOT Show 2018. With an overall length of just 5.8-inches, the micro-compact pistol still clocks in for work with a 3.1-inch barrel and brings a 10-round flush fit magazine along for the ride. Striker-fired, the gun uses a Nitron stainless steel slide and factory night sights. Don’t let the 17.8-ounce weight fool you, though, because the P365 includes an accessory rail.

MSRP is $599 (although Guns.com beats that price point all day) and includes two magazines, one flush and one with an extended base plate to help get more fingers on the grip. Optional 12-round extended magazines are available as well.
