A bolt-action shotgun built around the Model 110 rifle’s action, the Savage Arms 220 Turkey has a lot of potential for accuracy. Mike Stroff with Savage gives the 20-gauge bolt gun a spin in the above video, letting it work on a tom target well past bad breath distance.
Using a blued, 22-inch carbon steel barrel that is free-floating and secured to the receiver using a Model 110-style locking nut, the gun comes with an extra-full turkey choke to help put down a pattern. For other uses, both the 220 and the companion 212 12-gauge use utilize Win Choke threads.
Each come standard in the Mossy Oak Obsession camo pattern liked by the National Wild Turkey Federation and are packed with a bunch of features commonly just found on Savage’s rifle line.
Guns.com’s own Kristen Alberts recently used a Savage 220 to harvest Rio Grande turkeys at 53 yards in the warmth of Texas and has more details on that adventure in the below.
