Ruger‘s new Super GP100 is a competition revolver chambered in .357 Magnum that has been tuned by the company’s Custom Shop.

Announced last week, the Custom Shop Super GP100 was on hand at the 148th National Rifle Association’s Annual Meetings in Indianapolis and drew a crowd. Featuring polished and optimized internals, a centering boss on the trigger and centering shims on the hammer, the wheelgun has a smooth, double-action trigger pull with a crisp, let-off.

“The Ruger Custom Shop continues to produce competition-ready firearms,” said Ruger President and CEO Chris Killoy. “The new Super GP100 is yet another example of our Custom Shop’s fine craftsmanship, and will allow our customers to compete at the highest levels.”

Using a stainless steel frame, barrel, and cylinder, the revolver’s surfaces are PVD coated, giving the gun a matte appearance. The half-lug 5.5-inch barrel is shrouded and includes an 11-degree target crown. Cuts in the barrel shroud and cylinder help reduce overall weight and improve balance with the added benefit of helping the cylinder keep up with the speed required with rapid shooting. The beefy magnum comes standard with an adjustable rear sight and quick-change fiber optic front sight.

The cylinder and extractor are cut for moon clips to speed reloading in competition use.

The .357 Magnum chambering allows the wheelgun to accept .38SPL rounds while the peg-style frame comes with a Hogue wood grip. The frame can accommodate Super Redhawk or GP100 aftermarket replacements.

The gun ships in a waterproof case that includes three moon clips, a challenge coin, cleaning cloth, gun peg, and decal. MSRP is $1,549.
