The National Rifle Association this week reiterated the plan to have the member organization's annual meeting and exhibits be held in Houston, Texas in September.

The 150th anniversary celebration for the 5-million-member group, founded in 1871 by Union Army Veterans, is set to be held at the 1.8 million-square-foot George R. Brown Convention Center. The NRA says the event "will feature more than 800 exhibitors and acres of the latest guns, knives, optics, ammo, and accessories available."

The 149th NRAAM, set for April 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee, was canceled by the group considering the COVID outbreak and resulting lockdowns and then later downsized to a much smaller meeting in Springfield, Missouri. The 148th NRAAM in 2019 was held in Indianapolis, Indiana, featuring 880 exhibitors – including Guns.com – and drew over 80,000 attendees.

This year's three-day event is scheduled for Sept. 3 - 5 and is free for NRA members and their immediate family such as spouses and children under 18 years old.

"NRA members can also book the hunt of a lifetime, purchase shooting and hunting accessories, view priceless gun collections, and see celebrities walking the aisles," said the Association in a press release for the upcoming meeting. "In addition to the exhibition floor, NRA members will enjoy the camaraderie of other freedom-loving members as they attend the many events, receptions, and demonstrations happening throughout the weekend."
