To celebrate almost a century of firearms excellence, CZ recently announced limited-edition 85th Anniversary guns to include a CZ 75 pistol and CZ 557 rifle.
Both models will be limited to a run of 2,000 units each and include distinctive 85th Anniversary markings and gold embellishments.
The 85th Anniversary pistol, a special CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow, is an all-steel 9mm DA/SA pistol with an external hammer and a 19+1 capacity magazine. Whereas the standard model has rubber grip panels, the Anniversary has aluminum grips as well as an extended magwell and trigger, all in gold.
The 85th Anniversary CZ 557 rifle being released to the wild in limited quantities include a high-finish walnut stock and gold embellishments to the bolt and trigger. While the standard CZ 557 offered in the U.S. comes in either 6.5x55 Swedish, 6.5 Creedmoor, .270 Remington, and .30-06 Springfield, it is not clear what caliber the anniversary rifle will be chambered for.
Initially formed as the state-owned Česká Zbrojovka arsenal in circa 1936 Czechoslovakia as an evolution from the earlier JZ armament works, CZ has been a private enterprise since 1992. Today, it is part of the CZG group that includes Brno Rifles, Colt, Dan Wesson, and Swedish optics mount maker Spuhr, employing over 2,000 people in Canada, the Czech Republic, Germany, and the U.S.
