Springfield Armory on Monday announced a new, optics-ready XD-M Elite Compact model that brings a 10+1 .45 ACP capacity to everyday carry. 

The new Optical Sight Pistol, or OSP model, has a compact frame with a removable magwell that can convert the handgun to a full-sized grip frame with a 13+1 capacity. In its standard 10+1 format, it stands 4.58 inches high and is 6.75 inches long with a 3.8-inch barrel. Weight is 26.5 ounces.

"The XD-M Elite family has proven itself through its combination of rugged reliability and top-tier performance," says Steve Kramer, Springfield's VP of marketing. “And now with the XD-M Elite 3.8-inch Compact OSP in .45, shooters have a powerful CCW pistol that is ready for every day carry duty."

The new .45 ACP XD-M Elite 3.8 Compact OSP is available from the factory packaged with or without a HEX Dragonfly 3.5 MOA red dot optic. Asking price on the pistol alone is $653, while the Dragonfly option bumps that up to an MSRP of $843. Both ship with two 10-round magazines. The 13-round extended mag with grip sleeve and choice of three different backstraps is optional and runs $39.95.
