Pennsylvania-based Cabot Guns, a company with an enduring habit of making one-of-a-kind M1911s out of priceless meteorites, is back at it again.

With SHOT 2022 spinning up next week, Cabot announced its Moonshot 1911 on Monday. True to its name, the .45 ACP is crafted from a certified lunar meteorite with inlays of precious diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and gold.

The Moonshot displays a view of our solar system from the perspective of the American Apollo program astronauts on the lunar surface.

"With the Moonshot, we have pushed the boundaries as to the idea of mechanical art in the form of a pistol," said Cabot founder and CEO, Rob Bianchin, in an email to Guns.com. "The unique use of rare lunar meteorites and extra-terrestrial materials has never been employed in such a manner. It's a symbol of both an enduring American design and the accomplishments of America on a galactic scale."

"From an engraver's perspective it was an absolutely delightful mind-bending challenge to unite heaven and earth,” says FEGA Master Engraver Lee Griffiths. "The creation process was a personal and unique way to experience a moon landing vicariously."

The Moonshot 1911 rests in a special custom case designed by Les Ateliers Victor of Paris and is made from a "massive block of space-grade aluminum, with screws redesigned and reshaped to look like SpaceX capsules, a titanium solar system grid that features moving planets, which lock and unlock access to the pistol through a secret astronomical code, and a laser engraved hieroglyphic formula enchanting the case and protecting the Moonshot 1911."

Other historical pistols in what Cabot classifies as its One of a Kind (OAK) guns include a commemorative to honor U.S. Navy SEAL Aaron Vaughn and raise funds for a veterans group, and a $4.5 million matching set made from a meteorite. We have been dropping in on them at SHOT Show to drink in these amazing guns since 2013, and be sure that they are on our list this year as well.
