IWI showcased its new Masada Slim pistol at this year’s NRA Annual Meeting in Houston. The company announced the new diet-fed arrival just before the event, making Houston one of the first chances to meet the slender handgun up close and personal.

The company was aiming to launch a firearm that offered capacity with a direct-milled slide that still stayed true to the full-size Masada with an insert receiver. Other features include a flat trigger with a Glock-style safety lever and sights ready for aftermarket options.

“Basically, what you got here is a 13+1 micro-compact pistol with a direct mil with the RMS Shield/K X2 footprint from Holosun. The Sig Sauer Romeo Zero will also drop into it as a direct mil,” noted Jeremy Gresham, director of sales and marketing at IWI. “It is a Sig Sauer 320 sight cut, so all your backup iron sights and things of that nature will also work on there. And, again, it still is an insert receiver.”

Coming in at generally around or under five bills, the Masada Slim offers a slender alternative to the original standard Masada, which rolled out a few years ago with a 4.1-inch barrel, giving it an overall length of 7.4 inches. At a standard capacity of 17+1, the gun rivaled the Glock 17 in size and capacity.

The slim version brings it closer to the Sig P365 with a thinned-down profile that offers a 3.4-inch barrel with a grip just long enough to host a 13-round magazine as standard. This puts the new IWI Masada 9S pistol in a category that is ever-so-slightly larger than some micro 9s but with the capacity to make up for it. You can expect to see these guns hit the market a little later this year.
