Increasingly known for its budget-friendly 1911s handguns, Tisas isn’t shying away from the daily concealed carry game with its PX-9 Carry we got some hands-on time with at SHOT Show 2023.

Here's a quick peek at the new Carry gun on the range next to the PX-9:

The PX-9 Carry expands – well, shrinks – the PX-9 lineup to accommodate a more comfortable size for easier concealed carry. The platform still offers the same features as the full-size 9mm PX-9, minus the size, and we should note those routinely fall around and even bellow the cost of three Benjamins. Though, the gun we got to shoot still hosted a nice, green fiber-optic front sight with a glare-cut rear.

The carry option, left, has some obvious size differences from the bigger PX-9 full-size gun, but they still share quite a bit in common. (Photo: Seth Rogers/Guns.com)

Features on the Carry include:

  • Hammer-forged barrel
  • Flat trigger with passive safety
  • CNC-machined slide
  • RMR-pattern optics cut and plate
  • Removable magazine well
  • Reversible magazine catch
  • Ambi thumb safeties
  • Loaded chamber indicator

Unlike Tisas’ 1911 series, the PX-9s come in a polymer frame with an integral rail – yes, also on the PX-9 Carry. Perhaps even more notable is the inclusion of Glock 17-pattern front and rear sights in a gun that takes SIG P229-pattern magazines. That’s a nice little win on a budget-friendly carry gun.
