Federal’s FireStick muzzleloader ignition system is now approved for use in muzzleloader seasons in 25 states including Minnesota, Kansas, and Pennsylvania, with more expected next year, according to a Wednesday news release from Federal.

FireSticks are single-use encapsulated powder charges that are notably impervious to moisture – a bane of traditional muzzleloading loose powders and pellets. Shooters may use their preferred primer, which is simply inserted into the back of the FireStick. The charge then loads much like a cartridge from the breech, and the FireStick is easy to remove.

The FireStick not only offers a friendly approach to muzzleloading for newcomers but also has helped bring burned-out former muzzleloader hunters back into the sport, explained Federal’s muzzleloader product director Dan Compton:

“Many of these hunters had gotten frustrated with the complexities, cleaning hassles, and inconsistencies of less modern muzzleloading rifles. All those frustrations are solved with Federal’s FireStick system.”

The NitroFire rifle from Traditions as well as CVA’s new Crossfire are built to host the FireStick, offering hunters more options for their black powder needs.
