Beretta recently announced its legendary 687 series of over-and-under shotguns is back and better than ever with the new 687 Silver Pigeon III.

Available in popular gauges-- 12, 20, 28, and .410-- the new OAU blends modern design and reliability with old-world craftsmanship to provide a low-maintenance shotgun that can deliver in the field while looking good on the rack, a rare quality these days.

Other features include the 680-series standard cold hammer-forged Steelium Optima Bore HP tri-alloy steel barrels with a 6x6 windowed top rib and 80mm forcing cone, as well as a 20mm MicroCore butt pad to help tame recoil.

When it comes to barrel length, the 12-gauge Vittoria uses 28-inch barrels while the 20-gauge is offered in either 28- or 30-inch formats. Fans of the 28-gauge will be able to choose from 26-, 28- or 30-inch barrels while .410 users can select either 26- or 28-inch barrels. All of the variants have a 3-inch chamber. The larger bores use 70 mm Optima-Choke HP chokes while the .410 is equipped with traditional 50 mm Mobil Choke chokes.

The 687 Silver Pigeon III retails for an MSRP of $2,899.
