The Benelli R1 is a semi-automatic hunting rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield, .300 Win. Mag. and .338 Win. Mag. Along with the MR1, it is one of two rifles offered by Benelli. The company recommends the R1 for big game hunting such as brown bears, moose and elk.
The R1 features a ComforTech stock and A.R.G.O. piston-driven system is designed to diminish the felt recoil caused by firing the heavy calibers. In the piston-driven system, a single port located near the
chamber bleeds gases where they are hotter and cleaner to aid cycling and diminish fouling. The R1 is drilled and tapped for scope mounting and comes with a Picatinny rail for additional mounting of optics. The rifle has a 22″ Crio barrel and weighs just over 7 lbs. It comes finished in a walnut stock, a black synthetic stock, and a camouflage synthetic stock.
