The 550 Carbine is a bolt-action chambered in .30-06 Springfield and 9.3×62. The Carbine is distinct among the CZ 550 rifle family for having a shorter barrel, which increases mobility in tight spaces and decreases accuracy in long distance shooting scenarios.
The Carbine utilizes the 550 series’ signature controlled-feed mechanism, consisting of a non-rotating claw extractor that engages the case rim of the cartridge once the round leaves the magazine and holds the case until the round is ejected by the ejector. CZ recommends the 550 Carbine for big game hunting.
The 550 Carbine features a cold hammer-forged 20.5″ blued barrel. The rifle has a kevlar stock with a full length bedding block. The Carbine comes with factory-installed adjustable iron sights and has an integrated 19mm scope base cut into the receiver. The single-set trigger is fully adjustable while the gun’s safety is a three-position lock mounted on the right side just behind the bolt system. The gun features a fixed magazine with a capacity of four.
Česká zbrojovka translates as “Czech Army”, so it comes as no surprise then that CZ firearms has a long history of supplying weapons to militaries around the globe. The CZ name can be found on a variety of handguns, smallbore and bigbore rifles, military rifles and submachine guns.
