HK 45

The Heckler and Koch HK45 is a semi-automatic large-framed pistol chambered in .45 ACP. HK is a German arms manufacturer founded in 1949 and is headquartered in Oberndorf am Neckar, Germany. The HK45 was developed for consideration in the Joint Combat Pistol (JCP) and Combat Pistol (CP) programs administered by the US Military. The program, which involved a search for the next military service pistol, was eventually scrapped.

The HK45 features a cold hammer-forged barrel, meaning a mandrel was carefully pushed through the bore to carve the rifled grooves. The HK45 includes a decocking lever and a combination safety. The configuration of the HK allows (with additional parts) the shooter to change components for ambidextrous use. The HK45 also includes replaceable backstraps, low profile 3-dot sights, and Picatinny rail molded to the polymer frame for mounting accessories.
