The 444XLR also employs an adjustable folding rear sight with a front sight brass bead and Wide-Scan brand hood. The barrel has undergone Marlin’s Ballard-type rifling, which carves six deep and wide grooves that are supposed to help improve accuracy on high-power rifles. It’s a slow process that puts almost no stress is put on the metal.

The cartridge .444 Marlin is described as a longer .44 Mag. and preferred for hunting at a shorter range yet powerful impact, so it’ll kill larger game without destroying a lot of the meat.
