Mark III Target

The Ruger Mark III Target is a semi-automatic large-frame pistol chambered in .22 LR. The Mark III Target is one of five economical sporting pistols in Ruger’s Mark III Series and they look similar to the Luger, a German military pistol.

Unlike the Standard model, the Target has a heavy bull barrel.

Bull barrels have little or no taper, and generally use a thicker, heavier construction. The heavy barrel is able to withstand many successive shots, and target shooters often favor the heavy barrel’s steadying weight.

The Mark III is blowback operated, meaning the initial explosion of the cartridge powers the cycling. It uses an internal cylindrical bolt for its action. How it’s different from a standard design is it recoils out of the pistol instead of pushing a slide back.

The Mark III Target features a blued steel or stainless steel construction, and includes a 5.5″ barrel. The Mark III Target is equipped with a loaded chamber indicator that offers both visual (red mark) and tactile (protruding notch) indicators. The Mark III Target also has a fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight.

Additional features include checkered plastic grips and a manual safety. A magazine disconnect feature prohibits the gun from firing when the magazine is released. The Mark III Target includes two 10-round magazines and a hard plastic case. Lastly, the blued steel version has a Picatinny rail for easy mounting of a scope or accessories

Ruger recommends the Mark III Target for target and competitive shooting.
