The Ruger Redhawk is a large-frame double-action revolver chambered in .44 Mag. and .45 Colt. The Redhawk was specifically constructed to withstand powerful magnum loads with features such as a heavy frame made of high-grade stainless steel and a triple locking cylinder. Ruger says the triple locking cylinder ensures more positive alignment and dependable operation. The cylinder is also elongated and holds 6-rounds.

Other features include an adjustable rear notch sight with a replaceable ramp front sight. It comes with either hardwood or Hogue brand rubber grips. The Redhawk also has a transfer bar, which allows the hammer to indirectly
strike the firing pin because the transfer bar absorbs the impact and
then presses against the firing pin.

A Redhawk Hunter Model is also available with integral scope mounts and includes free scope rings.

Ruger recommends the Redhawk for big game hunting.
