SR9

The Ruger SR9 is a semi-automatic medium-frame pistol chambered in 9mm. The SR9 was introduced in 2007 and is Ruger’s first large caliber striker fired pistol (as opposed to hammer fired).

When a pistol is striker fired it means the trigger controls an internal arm that hooks the firing pin. Once the trigger is depressed the firing pin is pulled back and then sprung forward to strike the cartridge’s primer.

The SR9 features an alloy steel slide with either a nitridox protective black finish or brushed stainless steel finish, and a glass-filled nylon grip for increased durability. The SR9 is equipped with a 3-dot sights, which are adjustable for windage and elevation. The SR9’s grip has a reversible backstrap that offers a flat or arched grip fit.

Additional features include ambidextrous manual safety and a trigger safety. With the trigger safety, the only way the gun can fire is if the trigger is actually pulled. This prevents accidental discharge if dropped. The SR9 also has a ambidextrous magazine release, an under-barrel Picatinny rail for easy mounting of accessories, and a magazine finger grip extension that can be added for increased ergonomics. The SR9 is available in both 10 and 17-round magazines.

Ruger recommends the SR9 for open or concealed carry.
