P220 Combat

The Sig Sauer P220 Combat is a semi-automatic large-frame pistol chambered for .45 ACP. According to Sig’s website, the P220 Combat is designed to meet and exceed rigorous military standards. They added, it easily passes military
accuracy requirements, even after 20,000 rounds, and it passed the military’s 240-hour salt spray
corrosion test. Sig credits its hard chromed barrel and Nitron finished slide.

What makes the P220 Combat different from the standard model is its military Flat Dark Earth finish and internal components are phosphated for further corrosion resistance and reduced friction.

Otherwise the Combat uses the same action as Browning’s Hi-Power pistol, which is a locked-breech system where the recoil is absorbed by a spring and guide rod rather than the frame.

Features include a stainless steel slide coated in Nitron brand protective finish for increased corrosion resistance. The P220’s frame is constructed of lightweight alloy and features a short Picatinny rail for easy mounting of accessories as well as the Sig four-point safety system. This system includes decocking lever, so shooters can switch from a double-action or single-action trigger. It has a patented automatic firing pin safety block and a safety intercept notch, which is an internal safety block, and trigger bar disconnector.

The P220 Combat is also available with a threaded barrel (add about $70).
