SSG 3000

The Sig Sauer SSG 3000 is a bolt-action tactical rifle chambered in .308 Win. or 7.62 NATO. The SSG 3000 has a modular design, so it breaks down and transports easily, and is intended for precision shooting. Its design was based on the Sig Sauer 200 STR sporting rifle.

Features include a cold hammer forged barrel, so a machine carefully cut the grooves in the bore. This process produces solid grooves and improves the rifling’s durability. The barrel also has a black oxide finish, which prevents glare, and either a flash suppressor or muzzle break. Its bolt has six locking lugs that adds strength when the bolt locks into its housing and it ensures the firing pin strikes the cartridge on mark. It also allows shooters to re-chamber by lifting the bolt lever a short 60 degrees. It has a Picatinny rail for easy mounting of optics or accessories. And, it is partially custom made because it has a McMillan composite stock. The McMillan stock has an adjustable cheek pad, a black textured finish and an accessory rail under the fore-end.

The SSG 3000 is said to be a common sniper rifle for European law enforcement agencies.
