The Smith & Wesson Model 22A is a large-frame pistol chambered in .22 LR and is manufactured in Houlton, Maine. S&W recommend the Model 22A for recreational shooting and hunting.
The 22A has an aluminum alloy frame with a steel slide, which is available in a variety of finishes including matte black, two-tone, and real tree. It is also available with either wood grips or soft polymer.
Features include a single-action trigger, an ambidextrous magazine release and a Weaver rail for easy mounting of optics or accessories. A Weaver rail is similar to a Picatinny rail except it’s a bit smaller. Actually accessories that fit on a Picatinny rail also fit on a Weaver rail, but not the other way around. The 22A also uses a 10-round magazine and a HI-VIZ green dot front sight for easy sight alignment and adjustable rear sight.
