The M&Ps features a stainless steel construction and a Zytel polymer frame, a wear-resistant material patented by Dupont. It’s finished in a protective black melonite coating, which is a metallic mineral closely associated with nickel (technically, a telluride of nickel). The M&P also employs three interchangeable palm swell sizes, a Picatinny under-barrel rail for easy mounting of accessories, and a trigger safety similar to whats found on a Glock, so the trigger must be depressed in order for the gun to fire.
The M&P9 Pro Series employs Novak brand fiber-optic front sights, with Novak brand reduced glare rear sights, and employs a 17-round magazine.
S&W recommends the M&P9 for personal protection, law enforcement, and competitive shooting.
