Mark V Sub-MOA TRR

The Weatherby Mark V Sub-MOA (Minute of Angle) Threat Response Rifle is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .300 Win. Mag.,  .30-378 Weatherby Mag., .338-378 Weatherby Mag. and .300 Weatherby Mag.  The Mark V Sub-MOA TRR is a premier model of Weatherby’s Vanguard “threat response” line and the most expensive costing around $4,019.

Weatherby is notable for their bolt-action operating systems–a modified Model 54 action–which is an early 20th century design for centerfire cartridges. Weatherby’s Mark V’s bolt body is designed with six lugs (nine for magnums) that secures the bolt firmly into the receiver. With more lugs, or wider lugs, the bolt requires a short 54-degree lift for full rotation and chambering. Weatherby also strengthened the bolt body by milling it from a single piece of steel, so it can withstand more powerful cartridges.

The Weatherby Mark V Sub-MOA TRR is a tactically styled gun that features a fully adjustable composite stock with adjustable cheek piece and a 26″ Krieger brand custom-cut barrel with a matte black finish. Its stock is also hand-laminated with an aluminum bedding system. By bedding the stock in a layer of aluminum, reduced barrel-to-stock stress can be achieved, resulting in better overall accuracy. The barrel has a muzzle brake that helps reduce recoil because it disperse propellant gases off to the sides rather than straight back. The 3-position butt stock gives the shooter the ability to adjust the length-of-pull, drop at heel, and cant of recoil pad.

The Mark V Sub-MOA TRR is equipped with a fully adjustable trigger that is initially factory-tuned to 3 pounds. Its bolt has a fluted body, which reduces surface area in turn weight. The Mark V Sub-MOA TRR also has a cocking indicator that visually indicates whether the rifle is uncocked or cocked.

Weatherby recommends the Mark 4 Sub-MOA TRR for long-range shooting or tactical use.
