Model 70 Safari Express

The Winchester Model 70 Safari express is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .416 Rem., .458 Win. Mag. and .375 H&H Mag. Winchester introduced the M70 in 1936 and it has been modified and updated throughout the years. The Safari Express is one of nine variations of the Model 70 and designed to fire heavy, big-game cartridges.

Features include the popular Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad, meant to minimize recoil from heavy loads.  Its action has dual recoil lugs and steel stock reinforcing crossbolts, which help mitigate the effects of magnum load firing. Its three-position safety system allows shooters to cycle unfired cartridges with the safety engaged. It has Winchester’s popular MOA trigger system. The engineering of the MOA system is meant to minimize excessive movement in the trigger mechanism during firing, resulting in a decrease in shooter error. This system also allows the owner to individually tune the trigger by tightening or loosening a set of screws.

Winchester recommends the Safari Express for “once-in-a-lifetime” safaris and African game hunts.
