Taurus announced Tuesday that it is expanding the caliber offerings in the popular Raging Hunter revolver series to include several new models in .460 S&W Magnum. 

Pitched to sportsmen who prefer the challenge of hitting the field with a wheel gun, the Raging Hunter is a dedicated hunting revolver line that Taurus has been offering in "no joke" calibers to include .454 Casull, .44 Magnum, and .357 Magnum/.38 Special +P. The company says they are giving the people what they want and introducing the gun in .460 S&W. 

"Handgun hunting is on the upswing as experienced hunters look to expand their options and, quite frankly, seek new and challenging ways to enjoy their hunting passion while putting healthy wild game on the table," said Taurus CEO Bret Vorhees. "The Taurus Raging Hunter was a hit among veteran and new handgun hunters when we introduced it in 2019. We are now answering the consumer demand for even more chamber options and downrange performance with the new Raging Hunter in .460 S&W."

Using a double-action/single-action format, the .460 Raging Hunters will be offered in three different lengths with 5.125- , 6.75- and 8.375-inch barrels. This produces revolvers that range between 11.6 and 14.9-inches overall and tip the scales at up to 65.6 ounces-- or over four pounds. 

The Raging Hunter series uses a sleeved barrel construction for reduced weight with a full-length Picatinny rail along the top of the barrel shroud. To help mitigate muzzle rise, the guns have factory-tuned porting and a gas-expansion chamber. Recoil is abated through a finger-groove grip with cushioned inserts. The guns ship with a rear sight that is fully adjustable for elevation and windage. As is expected on a modern revolver, they have a transfer bar safety. 

MSRP on the .460 S&W Taurus Raging Hunter series ranges between $968.18 and $983.33 depending on the model.
