Desert Tech Just Amped AR-15 Capacities & Bullpupped the 10/22
Desert Tech rolled into SHOT Show 2022 in Las Vegas ready to supersize your AR-15 magazine capacities and still found time to offer a bullpup system that will take your Ruger 10/22 operating system.
The company unveiled these two new offerings – well, technically it’s really three – at SHOT Show with their new Quattro-15 AR lower receiver that supports the 53-round Quadmag-53 and the new compact Trek-22 stock system that converts your 10/22 into a bullpup rifle.

The Quattro-15 lower is compatible with standard AR-15 uppers, accepts standard AR mags, and is specifically designed to support Desert Tech’s new Quadmag-53, which will give you 212 rounds of 5.56 NATO/.223 in four Quadmags over seven 30-round standard mags that offer only 210 rounds. At the same time, the proprietary Quadmag-53 is slightly shorter than the 30-rounders (7.323 inches compared to 7.385 inches), giving you a similar side profile that’s around 8 percent lighter for the same loadout of ammo and requires nearly half the reloading time to keep your AR system in the fight.
Compatibility between the Quattro-15 lower and a virtual sea of AR uppers on the market opens the doors for a landscape of customizable options. Competition shooting and plinking are two obvious areas where a system like this would excel, but the actual origin starts with the Army’s requests to support its Next Generation Squad Weapons Program.

“What’s really unique about this is the design actually came out of the NGSW program, which we participated in,” Nick White, chief revenue officer with Desert Tech, told Guns.com. “We designed a quad stack because the military was looking to get away from a belt-fed system and into a box-fed system, and we needed to get more rounds into a magazine.”

The magazines themselves will fit in a standard double-mag AR pouch. Release date is TBD this year.
Trek-22 Bullpup

Moving from belt-like capacities for ARs to one of America’s favorite plinking and small game .22 LR darlings, Desert Tech also unveiled a new system that will convert your Ruger 10/22 into a bullpup rifle that requires just a few minutes for the conversion.
Compatible with standard 10/22 actions other than the takedown model, the Trek-22 doesn’t require any modifications to the firearm portion of your existing rifle. It will also support everything from your standard barrel size up to ones with a 0.92 diameter. Of particular and obvious interest, being a bullpup, the system will cut your standard 10/20 rifle from 37 inches to 26.75 inches with the same 18-inch barrel and a 7-percent weight reduction.
It offers similar ergonomics to a normal 10/22 but in a much smaller package that also houses two additional 10-round mags. (Photo: Paul Peterson/Guns.com)
The final product produces a gun that hosts a reduced trigger pull with a straight-blade trigger that comes in at around 4.5 pounds. Yet, it still offers similar shouldering and grip characteristics to the original 10/22 in a more compact format that has plenty of M-Lok and Pic rail space up front.
Oh, and the stock will host two additional 10-round rotary Ruger mags. Plus, if you’re thinking of adding a suppressor, the obvious advantages of a bullpup length have their own benefits. MSRP runs in at $299.99 with the delivery also TBD this year.
