ZRO Delta Intros Modular ‘The One’ Gun System at SHOT 2022
There are modular guns, and then there’s The One rifle/pistol system introduced by ZRO Delta at SHOT Show 2022 in Las Vegas last week. Part handgun, part rifle, and offering a huge array of options, The One is a gun that looks kind of like it was ripped from a Michael Bay “Transformers” flick.
It's not ZRO Delta’s first crack at a modular gun, with the earlier 9mm Modulus offering swappable frame parts, barrels, and slides based around the Glock 19 Gen 3. But The One certainly takes it to a new level by offering conversion options that don’t just create a bigger pistol but rather a complete rifle platform as well.
“The Modulus was a billet-aluminum-frame style of this pistol,” Eli Duckworth with ZRO Delta’s marketing team told Guns.com. “We went to polymer now, and it still retains all of its modularity. You’re able to change the dust cover, the front strap, the backstrap, and the magwell to fit a variety of needs.”

The gun includes three different dust covers, two different backstraps and front straps, and three different magwells. That level of mixing and matching comes right out of the box with just the pistol setup. The handgun version will also be cut to host a DRS 2.0 from U.S. Optics. Grip modules will be available in gray, black, and FDE. Keeping the same slide, which is now a Gen 5 design and supports most of those aftermarket parts, you can swap everything else out. The frame itself will also be available as a stand-alone option.

“But honestly, that’s not the coolest thing about this gun. I mean, this is the most modular gun out right now in my opinion, but it’s even more modular than that because you can take this gun apart and make it into an AR,” added Duckworth. “I don’t care who you are, it’s always cool to make guns into bigger guns.
With ZRO Delta’s Platform Conversion Unit, or just PCU, users can interface the “firearm” frame portion of The One with mil-spec AR-15 parts. So, if one is none and two is one – as the preppers are fond of saying– then The One is, well, the one. The pistol grip itself attaches to the PCU much like it would to any ordinary slide as well.

If you’re thinking you may need to invest in a new tool set to make all this happen, think again. The gun can be completely taken apart and put back together with just the recoil assembly, which is an appreciated life hack. MSRP on the PCU is TBD, but the cost on the compact pistol portion will be around $599.
