Ruger on Wednesday announced the reintroduction of the Marlin 1895 Trapper, with improvements including a receiver-mounted Skinner Sight system and suppressor-ready barrel.

Previously, while under the now-defunct Remington Outdoors banner, Marlin marketed the Trapper, a carbine-length big-bore .45-70 that was short, quick-handling, and optimized for hunting or protection from dangerous animals, from 2018 until the company closed its lines in 2020.

The reborn Trapper via Ruger has a 16.17-inch, cold-hammer-forged barrel with a six-groove 1:20 twist. Threaded 11/16x24 TPI with a match-polished thread protector, it is ready for either muzzle devices or quiet time.
