New: FN 502 MRD .22LR Optics-Ready Plinker

FN this week announced the expansion of its 502 hammer-fired rimfire handgun series in both FDE and black.

The FN 502, first introduced in 2021, is made by Umarex in Germany and approximates the styling of the popular 9mm FN 509, so much that it can use most 509 holsters. Debuted originally in a 502 Tactical model, complete with an extended threaded barrel and 15+1 round magazines, the new 502 MRD ships instead with a standard-length barrel and flush-fit 10+1 round mag. Importantly, it is still one of the few slide-mounted, optics-ready rimfire handguns on the market.

The 502 uses a hybrid form of FN’s excellent and rock-solid Low-Profile Optics Mounting System that we've had positive interactions with in the past. Plates allow for Trijicon RMR, Vortex Venom, and Shield RMS footprints. "The MRD model is the natural evolution of the FN 502 platform, allowing users to add a red dot, and make the most of the exceptional trigger. The MRD model offers another high-performance .22 LR pistol for our customer base, who value affordable quality in their rimfire pistols," said Chris Cole, VP of Sales for FN America.

The MSRP on the FN 502 MRD is $469, which is about $90 less than the ask for the 502 Tactical model.
