Easily offering a capacity bump to the popular Hellcat Pro series of micro-compact 9mm pistols, Springfield Armory debuted a new series of mags on Friday.

The new extended 17+1 round mags complement the Hellcat Pro's standard 15+1 flush fit mag while adding about a half-inch to the height of the pistol. The magazines will be offered in black and Desert FDE versions, with corresponding base pads that match the texture and color of the corresponding pistols on the market.

Springfield sent us a few earlier this month to test.

The 17+ round format has an extended base pad, allowing an extra two rounds over the normal 15+1 round Hellcat Pro magazine, and includes witness holes along the back of the steel body. (All photos: Chris Eger/Guns.com)

Note the standard mag – which has a black base pad – versus the new extended mag.

The base pad conforms to the contours of the Hellcat Pro’s grip frame and uses the same Adaptive Grip Texture as the pistol. The fitment is tight between the pad and the magazine well and we haven't had a pinched finger yet.

The result is a gun that is extremely near the dimensions of SIG Sauer's 17+1 round P365 XMacro.

For those who prefer to carry the flush-fit mag for better concealability, there is always the option of carrying a spare 17-rounder or two, seen here in a minimalist N8 Tactical Magna-Clip mag carrier as well as a Crossbreed Confidant mag carrier.

Springfield tells us the mags will have an MSRP of $42.99.

We've put about 300 rounds through the test mags Springfield sent with no issues.
