It's been a big year for Smith & Wesson, and the storied gunmaker is celebrating with a new Spec Series pistol complete with a Faxon compensator.

This year's Spec Series handgun by the S&W Performance Center is based on the company's M&P9 Metal chassis finished in an Olive Drab green Cerakote. It comes standard with a 4.8-inch threaded barrel with an attached Faxon-designed comp, two 17-round and two 23-round magazines, and an optics-cut slide with some very aggressive front and rear serrations as well as lightening cuts, which contribute to a faster lock time.

Being a Spec Series pistol, it ships with lots of goodies besides the pistol and three mags, including a karambit style knife, and a custom M&P Spec Series Challenge Coin.

"Our M&P polymer handguns have long been recognized for their reliability and ergonomic design," said Corey Beaudreau with Smith. "By combining these trusted attributes with the durability of the Metal M2.0 platform and adding modern performance upgrades, we were able to elevate the Spec Series to the next level. This design is a bridge between tradition and progress and offers a distinct edge across today’s dynamic shooting environments."

The MSRP on the new S&W Performance Center M&P9 Metal Spec Series pistol is $999. By comparison, the ask on the base M&P9 Metal is $899.
