Walther Debuts PDP Match in both Steel, Polymer Frame Variants
Walther has upped the performance of its already popular PDP handgun series with two new guns to consider.
The new optics-ready PDP Match Steel Frame and PDP Match Polymer Frame-- besides sharing the same Performance Duty Pistol lineage-- both have full-sized 5-inch barrels, Walther's Dynamic Performance Trigger, and lightening cuts to the slide. From there, they diverge by frame design with the more entry-level polymer variant having an MSRP of $1,099 while the steel frame has an ask of $1,899.
In essence, they are the upgraded follow-ons to the Walther Q4/Q5 series.

The Walther PDP Match Steel Frame has an overall length of 8.37 inches with an unloaded weight of 41 ounces. The company contends the weight of the frame significantly tames recoil and delivers a level of smoothness in every shot, competitively or not.
It ships with two 20-round and one 18-round magazine, all with aluminum base pads. Note the extended magwell and wrap-around grip panel.
"The PDP Match Steel Frame is a game-changer. With unwavering stability, shooters are able to have lightning-fast follow-up shots and laser-like accuracy," said Jens Krogh, VP of marketing and product development for Walther. "Like its polymer counterpart, the versatile features combined with the steel frame, makes this an unparalleled performance-enhancing powerhouse."

The PDP Match Polymer Frame is almost a full pound lighter than its steel-framed brother and runs 8.5 inches long with an unloaded weight of 26.9 ounces.
It ships with three 18-round magazines. Note what Walther terms its Performance Duty texture and standard Match features including an extended magwell.
"Our goal is to consistently provide our consumers with dependable and durable handguns, which ultimately increases their confidence as they feel comfortable with their firearm, and they look good in the process," said Krogh. "This is more than a firearm; it's a collection of power, precision, and perfection, promising unparalleled performance and redefining the standards of excellence in the world of handguns."
But how do they shoot?
