Springfield Armory's Tactical Response Pistol series is now in its 25th year, but it would seem SA is just hitting its stride with the platform, introducing a half-dozen new models for 2024.

The six new variants are all .45 ACP guns and include two Classic (Government) models in both 5-inch and 4.25-inch formats, two Rail models (offered in Black or Coyote Brown) that feature a Picatinny accessory rail on the frame's dustcover, and two Carry Contour models. The CC models are both Commander-length (4.25-inch barrels) and feature a bobbed, lightweight aluminum frame for ease of concealment. Like the new Rail TRPs, the CCs are offered in either chocolate or peanut butter flavors.

All six new TRP pistols are outfitted with a tritium three-dot sight system, carry Hydra panels by VZ Grips, and feature updated ergos to include finely cut sighting plane serrations along the slide tops to reduce glare and 20 lines per inch (LPI) checkering on the frames for better purchase when wet. Other shared standard features are an ambi thumb safety, skeletonized hammer, forward slide serrations, and a Gen 2 Speed trigger.

The TRP Classic pistols are offered in 5-inch and 4.25-inch versions, both featuring all-steel construction as well as two-piece magwells.

The TRP Rail models are both 5-inch all-steel guns with two-piece mag wells and a Picatinny rail on the dustcover, with options for either Black or Coyote.

The two TRP Carry Contour (CC models) feature 4.25-inch barrels along with a bobbed, lightweight aluminum frame that has an accessory rail. They do not have the extended mag wells as seen on the other models, but, like the TRP Rail guns, are offered in Black or Coyote.

The TRP, which debuted in 1999, springs from the Springfield Armory Professional, the commercial variant of the pistol developed to meet a spec from the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team and built by Springfield's Custom Shop.

"The TRP has long been one of the most respected 1911 pistols not only in the Springfield line but also in the broader 1911 community," said Steve Kramer, Springfield's VP of Marketing. "With these new TRP variants, Springfield Armory is taking a proven classic into the 21st century."

As for price, the TRP Classic models have an MSRP of $1,899, while the other four new variants come in at $1,999.

We'll bring you more on these from this year's SHOT Show.
