MSRs such as the AR-15 and AK variants are a hot topic of conversation in today’s world, but many people don’t understand how widespread their use is in the United States. I mean, even conservative estimates by industry experts put the number in circulation at over 24 million just two years ago edging into the 28 million region more recently.

From prior to the signing of the Declaration of Independence to today, there is a rich and deep history of firearms ownership in the United States. As Americans, we hold the Second Amendment to be one of the most important rights for maintaining autonomy and freedom, as it was specifically laid out by our founding fathers. In fact, at Lexington and Concord, we fought for our independence over our basic right to keep and bear arms to maintain our self-governance.

In the modern world, arguments are plentiful against the nature of the Second Amendment and the common firearms in circulation today. The courts have used the term “Common Use” to determine the validity of the firearm platforms in the hands of citizens. With a lot of confusion over definitions, we try to make it clear how common MSRs are in American society and how much they are a part of the basic fabric of Americans. 

There are a lot of opinions over firearms in the world we live in today, but there is no doubt that without the Second Amendment, all other rights are susceptible to government overreach.
