After soft-shoeing on gun policy for undecided voters during last Tuesday's presidential debate, by Friday Vice President Kamala Harris was back to advocating prohibition of the most popular semi-auto firearms in the country.

Expounding on her self-professed pro-Second Amendment creds to an audience of over 50 million during the debate against former President Donald Trump, Harris said, "This business about taking everyone’s guns away – Tim Walz and I are both gun owners, we’re not taking anyone’s guns away."

However, just 72 hours later when speaking to WPVI Philadelphia anchor Brian Taff in a rare sit-down interview on Friday, the Democratic presidential candidate repeated the claim from the debate and then swiftly changed her tune back to her previously declared anti-gun platform.

"I am a gun owner and Tim Walz, my running mate, is also a gun owner. We're not taking anyone's guns away. I support the Second Amendment and I support reasonable gun safety laws," Harris said.

Continuing, Harris said, "I feel very strongly that it is consistent with the Second Amendment and your right to own a gun to also say we need an assault weapons ban. They're literally tools of war. They were literally designed to kill a lot of human beings quickly. I say we need universal background checks. The majority of NRA members support that. Why? Cause, it's just reasonable."

Voters head to the polls on November 5 although early voting starts as much as 46 days before Election Day in some states.
