Promising "Duty grade performance and entry-level cost," Patriot Ordnance Factory has a more entry-level lightweight .308 AR on the schedule for 2025. 

The Arizona-based company pioneered the "small frame" AR-10(ish) rifle with the Revolution series in 2016 and doubled down on it with direct-impingement and 6.5 CM offerings in 2019. It has similar dimensions and weight to an AR-15 but is chambered in a much more serious caliber than 5.56, and it scratches many itches. While well-liked, the Revolution was, and still is, a bit pricey, with a "good deal" ask of around $2,500.

Meanwhile, Ruger cut into that light .308 market with its more budget-minded SFAR series in 2022, and with an MSRP of around $1,300, it is easy to see why. 

Well, POF-USA now has a rebuttal in the form of the new Light Modular Rifle (LMR) Base rifle. 

Featuring a 16.5-inch 416R stainless barrel, POF's Keylock bolt carrier group, forged receivers, and MFT furniture, the LMR Base only weighs 6.1 pounds. It's still feature-rich, including a threaded (5/8-24TPI) barrel, a 15-inch M-LOK rail, SR25/M110 pattern magazine compatibility, and a full-length top Picatinny rail. 

And, best yet, the MSRP on POF-USA's LMR Base rifle is $1,359.
