Glock has a new series of factory-paired Aimpoint enclosed red dots matched to Gen 5 9mm pistols-- with some new thinking when it comes to mounting.

The new Aimpoint COA optic, which seems to be a streamlined ACRO, will be not be offered for sale separately but rather only ship with specially cut G43X, G48, G19 Gen5, G45, and G47 models. The milled interface between optic and pistol slide is what Glock is referring to as its A-Cut.

Glock contends the A-Cut allows the COA optic to be mounted deeper into the slide, increasing stability. Note how the mount provides an iron sight index for the optic. (Photos: Glock/Aimpoint)

The COA, in turn, mounts into the Glock A-Cut via a wedge system that helps eliminate movement. The two companies developed the system jointly and the pistol maker says it holds up to its 40,000-round endurance standard.

Note the side-accessible compartment for a single standard CR2032 3-volt battery, with a 50,000-hour advertised lifespan.

The result is an ultra-compact and reliable red dot package that sits lower than even the ACRO with a direct-cut slide-- a standard Glock combination extremely popular on the LE sales market. Plus, the optic deck on the COA is low enough that standard height sights co-witness.

The Aimpoint COA will be offered on G43X, G48, G19 Gen5, G45, and the G47 models.

The pistols will ship fully assembled and ready right out of the box, beginning the week of Jan. 20, 2025.

The MSRP on the Glock COA packages ranges from $1,002 for the G48 and G43X, to $1,165 on the G19, G45, and G47. That sounds like a deal when you compare the asking price for new Gen 5 Glocks and the add an ACRO to the mix. For example, the "good deal" price for factory Glock G45 ACRO P2 combos typically hit the $1,300 mark at retail.

Will consumers bite on yet another proprietary optics footprint? If it is backed by Glock and Aimpoint, maybe.

We'll have more on these new guns from SHOT Show and have a T&E model inbound for testing to see how it holds up, so stay tuned.
