The Guns.com warehouse recently received a shipment of law enforcement trade-in Ruger Mini-14s with government profile barrels. These ought to be popular with collectors and all fans of the Mini-14.

The Mini-14

The Mini-14 was introduced in 1973 as a scaled-down version of the M-14. This new rifle from Ruger was chambered for the .223 Remington cartridge, which was gaining popularity at the time. The rifle is a fixed short-stroke gas piston with a rotating bolt design.

In the 1970s and 1980s, this design became popular with law enforcement agencies around the country.  This led Ruger to tailor the design toward law enforcement and military contracts, offering a “government profile” barrel – a thin profile barrel with a front iron sight and bayonet lug. These rifles were sold only to law enforcement agencies in the United States and only find their way to the domestic market through trade-in buys, making them one of the more sought-after Mini-14 models.

These rifles all feature thin government-profile barrels that Ruger built exclusively for law enforcement contracts.

This batch of rifles all feature the same government-profile barrels. They come in stainless steel with wood furniture, or synthetic stocks with treated receivers. As these rifles came from law enforcement agencies, they show some minor wear along with inventory numbers and makings. In general, they are in excellent condition considering their age.

The finish and furniture may show some wear, but it adds to the character of these vintage police trade-ins.

Law enforcement trade-ins are often great deals and the perfect way to score a collectible rifle like a government barrel Mini-14. While there is some wear, these rifles have character and tell a story.

The rifles feed from 20-round steel magazines.
