Ruger has debuted a new variant of its easy-takedown Mark IV rimfire autoloader that's optics and suppressor-ready right out of the box. 

The modern evolution of the circa-1949 Ruger Standard (Mark I) pistol, the Mark IV was introduced in 2016 with a more user-friendly design that included tool-free one-button takedown for easy field-stripping and cleaning. The Mark IV 22/45 variant – so named because the grip angle and surface controls emulate the famed 1911 Government – came soon after but still lacked a threaded muzzle and top Picatinny rail, the latter features reserved for the more expensive ($669 MSRP) Mark IV 22/45 Tactical. 

Now, Ruger has delivered a bull-barreled Mark IV 22/45 with a Pic rail and a threaded muzzle, with a suggested asking price of $449 (often lower at retail). Further, it has color-matched details, with the trigger and Pic rail sharing a stainless finish for a two-toned aesthetic.

Pressing a button in the back of the frame allows the barrel-receiver assembly to tilt up, much like an AR-15, and off the grip frame without the use of tools. This allows for easy cleaning. Note the checkered backstrap.

The Ruger Mark IV 22/45 is a blowback-action .22 LR with a 10-round single-stack magazine. Note the ambidextrous manual safety, which can be converted to the left side only via an included washer.

 

Other features include a contoured ejection port and easy-to-grasp bolt ears for durable and reliable operation, and a magazine safety. The new Ruger Mark IV 22/45 ships with two magazines.
